Jet Rodding
Jet rodding is an important part of tailing facility maintenance as the drains are an important device in the safe operation of the tailings dam. Drainage systems regulate or control the phreatic levels inside the TSF to safe levels ensuring that the dam is safety factor is compliant. If the drainage system is blocked the water can not drain which will increase the phreatic level on the TSF. Blockages are normally caused by algae build up, object or small animals which have been logged in the drain pipe.
The clearing of the drains allow water to flow freely and also identifies damaged or pipe failures. If drains are found to be blocked a camera can be used to determine the cause of the problem.
