Majority of tailings storage facilities have penstock decant systems which are raised with concrete rings which are packed loosely on top of each other. The structure is mainly supported by fine wet slurry which allows the risk of penstock tower to fail and thus the reason why these towers should be sleeved at a minimal cost compared to the replacement of a complete new penstock.
